What if you had to turn a restaurant into an office space?
Well… we did that. And here is how it went.
Our client, Ledgeris, had recently acquired a building originally designed as a restaurant, located in Benin City. They had a different vision for this building: transforming the space into a modern, fully functional corporate office. That’s where LaborHack came in.
Our team was brought on board to lead the full renovation—redesigning and executing every aspect of the transformation from start to finish.
1. Site Assessment
Our project manager conducted a site visit to understand the current layout and determine the materials and skilled professionals needed. The structure was a duplex with a hall on each floor, two offices on the ground floor, a storage room, male and female restrooms, and a detached security post with two rooms and a bathroom.
All of this needed to be reconfigured into a well-renovated, polished office space.
2. Site Preparation and Clean Up
The space was cluttered with waste materials left behind by previous occupants. We began with a comprehensive site cleanup to create a safe and workable environment for the professionals to efficiently commence the renovation.
3. The Renovation Breakdown
Once the site was prepped, our LaborHack Pros—electricians, masons, carpenters, and other skilled workers—got to work. Here’s a breakdown of the work completed across different renovation categories:
1. Mechanical and Electrical Works
- Full electrical rewiring and fittings
- Installation of 20 air conditioning units
- Servicing of restroom plumbing and replacement of two doors
- Sealing of ventilation fan openings for improved insulation
2. Safety and Access System
- Installation of four access-controlled doors
- Deployment of a clock-in timer system
- Installation of fire extinguishers across key zones
- Replacement of all locks and keys
- Application of one-way mirror film to all transparent windows and doors for added privacy and security
3. Interior Upgrades
- Wallpaper installation on tiled and side wall areas
- Spraying of doors and handles for a uniform, modern finish
- Demolition of unnecessary wall partitions to open up space on the ground floor
4. Sanitary Installations
- Construction of an additional toilet facility
- Full fumigation of the interior and exterior areas
5. Structural Enhancements
- Installation of a sliding side gate for controlled access
- Set up of a temporary kitchen structure to support staff operations
The most fulfilling part of this project wasn’t just the beautiful transformation of a former restaurant into a modern workspace for Ledgeris—it was the opportunity it created for 42 skilled workers who worked on the project.
